History and Background of HCS

Background and History of Harmony Christian School

Harmony Christian School began holding classes in September, 1980, with thirty five students. Its purpose was, and still is, to provide young people with the tools and environment they need to attain the highest level of academic achievement and Christian character. After the decision to add a high school was made, a grade was added every year, until our first senior graduation in June, 1992.

The New York State Board of Regents recognized Harmony Christian School’s high school program in July, 1992, and the elementary school program was accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and the Middle States Association in October, 1992.

The teachers of Harmony Christian School are either certified in New York state, or working toward their certification. All teachers are committed Christians, who commit to teach a Christian worldview, while preparing the students academically.

Today, Harmony Christian school offers Pre-School to 12th grade, and has approximately 250-300 students each year. We have a diverse offering sports programs and extra-curricula activities such as Drama productions, Arts festivals and Speech competition. HCS also has capabilities for special education, a National Honor Society, Advanced academics and much much more – all in a SAFE and CHRISTIAN environment.
